CHIP – Community Housing Initiative Perth
Help us build hope and homes
About CHIP
The Community Housing Initiative Perth (CHIP) is a coalition of local citizens and organizations passionate about addressing Perth’s housing crisis. In partnership with Carebridge Community Support and the Saumure Group, CHIP is committed to creating affordable housing solutions for our most vulnerable neighbours.
The Need
Over 300 residents in Perth are waiting for a safe, affordable place to call home. Across Lanark County, over 600 people struggle to find housing within their means. Among them are seniors, single parents, disabled individuals and those on fixed incomes – people who may be your neighbours, striving for stability and security.
The Plan
CHIP and its partners are in the process of building transformative project – a 15-unit, two-story affordable housing building in the heart of Perth. Located at 63 Halton Street, this development will provide housing for those who need it most. After completion, CHIP and local partner agencies will also provide advocacy support for tenants in their new homes.
Lanark County has committed $2.5 million to the project. The Town of Perth has generously donated the land, and another $1.5 million in grants and subsidies are in the application process. Visit ‘Background’ for more details.

Community Support is Needed
CHIP is asking for your help in raising the remaining $300,000 in construction costs. By contributing, you will help bridge the gap and ensure the project is underway in 2025 and ready for occupancy by 2026.
Your Donation makes a difference:
– Providing a safe and secure home for seniors, families, and deserving individuals
– Reducing the waiting list for affordable housing in Perth and Lanark County
– Building a stronger Perth community and addressing a pressing housing crisis
Every contribution is a lifeline for those striving to achieve stability, security and hope.
Together, We Can Build More Than Homes—We Can Build Hope
